DIRECTOR
KYLE CAMERATO
INSTRUMENTAL DIRECTOR
The Bristol Brass & Wind Ensemble warmly welcomes the musicianship and creativity of their newly named conductor, Kyle Camerato. Kyle grew up in Plainville and moved to Wallingford for middle school and high school. In High School, he participated in every instrumental ensemble for all four years including concert band, jazz band, and marching band. Kyle was a Section Leader in marching band for two years and was awarded the Director's Award for Jazz my senior year of High School. In college, he won the James T Furman soloist competition at WCSU in 2016 for his performance of the Muczynski Sonata for alto saxophone. Kyle also had the privilege of playing with jazz saxophonist Joe Lavano as part of the WCSU Jazz Orchestra led by Jimmy Greene. Kyle graduated Western Connecticut State University in 2017 with a BS in Music Education and is currently pursuing his graduate degree in conducting at Colorado State University.
Kyle started teaching in Bristol in 2019 and simultaneously joined the Bristol Brass and Wind Ensemble on the Alto Saxophone. Kyle is a current teacher in the Bristol Public School system; and currently, Kyle holds the position as the director of bands at Bristol Eastern High School. When asked why teach at the secondary level, his reply was, “I believe that high school is such a critical time in the development of a student's educational career. I truly enjoy inspiring students at that level and providing them with opportunities to rise above themselves and take ownership of their growth”.
Kyle plays all woodwind instruments, but tends to favor every section in a wind ensemble. Part of his music philosophy is to perform music that is able to showcase every section in an ensemble. Kyle is inspired by all music. New music, old music, from contemporary music artists of today to symphonic masters of the past. Music in itself inspires him. Music has always been a part of his life. Kyle always looked forward to his music classes, particularly instrumental music, which gave him a voice to express himself in ways that he wouldn't normally be able to do.Kyle chose music because of the power that music has to make a difference in people’s lives and connect us to each other.
Kyle married his wife Jesse on June 20, 2024.. Kyle and Jesse share a love of music and we are both proud members of the BBWE. Jesse is a multi instrumentalist who currently plays flute in the BBWE. She currently teaches 6-8 grade band at Vernon Center Middle School and teaches brass instruction for the Cheshire High School marching band. Along with conducting the BBWE ensemble Kyle enjoys traveling with his wife, attending concerts, going to the gym/bike riding, and playing guitar. Kyle and Jesse currently reside in Bristol.
Finally, when asked about future goals Kyle has for the Bristol Brass & Wind Ensemble, he simply replied, “My ever growing goals for the BBWE is to continuously challenge everyone musically and provide opportunities for this ensemble to experience all different forms of symphonic music”. The Bristol Brass & Wind Ensemble is excited to see Kyle excel as their conductor.
